Dane Waters - HCR Australia

Dane Waters - HCR Australia

With a background in health promotion, community development and international development, Dane has had over seven years experience using community media to transform communities. Spending over three years in Indonesia, Dane gained the foundations of HCR principles and since then has also worked in the Philippines and Papua, Indonesia. Now you will find Dane tripping around the Mid West of Western Australia where he is helping to change communities with Aboriginal media.

Celeste Larkins – HCR Australia

Celeste Larkins – HCR Australia

With a health promotion background Celeste has been involved in communication for development projects in rural and remote Australia, Indonesia and Fiji. Her specialisation has seen her work utilising social media for communication for development purposes.

Jon Hargreaves – UK

Jon Hargreaves – UK

A journalist by background, Jon has been working in broadcast media in Africa, the Middle East and Asia for more than 25 years, including spells with three major broadcast networks. In 1995, he moved to Uzbekistan to lead a number of media for development projects, where he was awarded a doctorate for his work in the field of education and social development. As co-founder of HCR in the UK, he currently supports partners on a range of Communication for Development (C4D) projects, mostly in Asia and Africa

Hazeen Latif – Pakistan

Hazeen Latif – Pakistan

Hazeen Latif is the CEO of HCR Foundation Pakistan. Hazeen brings a wide range of local and international experience to training and project design. Hazeen first encountered community-centred media principles in 1987 when he met HCR founder Dr Ross James and has since been developing and implementing media strategies for community development and disaster response. Hazeen has worked for 30 years in radio broadcasting (SW, commercial FM and community radio).

Alex Stout – UK

Alex Stout – UK

Alex hails from the Shetland Isles in the UK, where he trained as an engineer on aeronautical communications systems. In the late 1990’s he moved to the Indian Ocean island of Seychelles where he worked for a large broadcasting organisation as a radio broadcast engineer before relocating to the Middle East to head up a media network for the region. Alex has been involved in a number of HCR projects in Africa and the Middle East and brings with him a large amount of technical and project management experience.

Stephanie Mooney – UK

Stephanie Mooney – UK

Stephanie has been working with communities and community development for 18 years, with extensive experience of working in partnerships and using strengths-based approaches in community-led engagement initiatives. She has primarily worked within the African context, since 2010. Stephanie has an MA in Diplomacy, Law and Global Change, and holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution. Steph is pioneering our Amplifying Community Voices process and advocates for street living children via the Stop Child Witchcraft Accusations network.

Johnny Fisher – UK

Johnny Fisher – UK

Over the last 6 years Johnny has been facilitating audience engagement and project strategy workshops with media partners in South Asia, West Africa and the Middle East. Initially training and working as an electronics engineer, Johnny has since worked as a digital marketing project manager, a church community leader, and a support worker for homeless people. He is currently supporting partners doing community centred media in Pakistan and sub-Saharan Africa and heads up HCR’s disaster response work.

Emmanuel Masih - Pakistan

Emmanuel Masih - Pakistan

Emmanuel provides administrative support to Hazeen, and practical support for organising training events.

Iain Taylor – UK

Iain Taylor – UK

Iain’s business career revolved around insurance and finance. In retirement he chairs Family Foundations Trust, a local charity that manages Dalesdown (a Christian residential centre catering for schools, Churches and youth groups) and which oversees Christian Worldwide (a country wide association of Christian children’s workers). He is treasurer of Splash, an organisation presenting Christian assemblies in local schools, and most Fridays you will find him in the HCR office trying to make sense of the finances.
